Details - Basic home shorts as worn when Guus Hiddink took over as Real Madrid manager who after a run of poor form was sacked in February to be replaced by former Madrid manager John Toshack. Toshack led the team to a second place finish in La Liga in the 1998-99 season, finishing 11 points behind champions Barcelona. In the next season Toshack could only survive as manager until November when he was replaced by Vicente del Bosque who could only lead the team to a 5th place finish in La Liga, but did manage to lead the club to its eighth European title as Madrid beat Valencia 3-0 in the Champions League final.
