However, Lopetegui was sacked in October and replaced by Santiago Solari who won the team's only piece of silverware of the season after beating Al-Ain in the FIFA Club World Cup final. After exiting the Champions League at the last 16 stage Solari was also sacked, being replaced by Zinedine Zidane 9 months after he resigned as manager.
